Press Release from the Holy See for GA4: Do All Rats Go to Heaven?

Over the course of today’s work, the Holy See has been pleased with the passage of Resolutions I/1 and I/2, which both address the issue of Assistance in Mine Action. However, the recent passage of Resolution I/3 has left our delegation in disarray and with mixed feelings. This resolution seeks to use the African Rat to help search out landmines so they can be de-mined. On the outset this is a wonderfully innovative solution which will reduce the risk of harm to humans in the process of demining; however, it raises a terrible theological question: Do these rats, some of whom will die in the course of their duty, go to Heaven? Without a swift answer from the Vatican and the Holy Father, our delegation has reservations over this resolution even though it has already been passed by the collective body.
