The recent actions taken by the Israeli State are nothing short of appalling. Raiding Palestinian territory during a United Nations-mediated ceasefire is a flagrant disregard for the International Laws that govern our world. Furthermore, this raid showed how morally deplorable the Israeli government is, as they launched missiles at residential houses and homes to maim and harm Palestinian citizens who were attempting to stop rampaging Israeli forces. These actions make Switzerland sick. How can our nation say that we respect human rights if we stand by as the Israeli government takes morally deplorable actions? How can we go back to our constituents and say we are doing our best to make the world a better place? Simply put, we cannot. Israel’s actions go beyond anything even remotely acceptable, and Switzerland can no longer stand by and tacitly support this genocidal regime. Going forward, Switzerland will be severing all ties with the nation-state of Israel and moving forward with the hope of protecting the women, men, and children of Gaza in ways that do not continue to bolster Israeli aggression. We invite other nations to join us in severing ties in order to force Israel to make a meaningful change to how their government functions so that we can resume ties in the future. Thank you.
