Letter to the Editor: Russian Aggression in Ukraine
Dear Editor,
The delegation of Ukraine was deeply saddened to read the hateful and anti-Semitic rhetoric published by the Russian Federation in the AMUN Chronicle, but is entirely unsurprised. Ukrainians acutely remember the Russian brutality against our existence during Holodomor in 1932, and the oppression of our political freedoms throughout the Soviet Era. We hold close our chants of liberty during the Euromaidan protests, still ringing in our ears like a melody. We celebrate our democracy, and the hope for Liberalism it casts upon Europe and the world. The Russian Federation makes bold claims about democratic elections, when their soldiers went door to door, waving weapons at civilians, forcing them to vote in an election never designed to be fair, in territories that now proudly fly our flag once again. The people of Kherson now celebrate their liberty in the streets because of our brave defenders. We are deeply saddened by the Russian Federation’s hateful rhetoric, but this rhetoric will not break us. It will not break our commitment to Liberalism and Democracy.
Slava Ukrayini! Heroyam slava!
