Press Release: US and United Arab Republic – Concerning the Esteemed Delegation from Belgium’s Answers in the United Nations Historical Security Council 1961
Early this morning, the United Nations Historical Security Council (1961), called on the esteemed delegation of Belgium, as a party to the dispute in the situation in the Congo. During this session, the HSC hoped to gain more clarity on the strongly supported notion of a ceasefire from the members. However, this period raised more questions than answers, including the further clouding of the motivations surrounding Belgian involvement both militarily and as a form of colonialism. It would appear to be a veiled attempt at holding on to the last vestiges of Belgian imperialism. The HSC will be calling on Belgium again to answer questions, and in addition will call on representatives from Katanga and Stanleyville, so the esteemed body can better grasp the full brunt of the situation, and the needs of all those involved.
