COI-1948: Press Release from the Joint United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan

RE: The Ongoing Situation in Kashmir Regarding the Matters Raised by the Member States of India and Pakistan

The United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan has observed an escalation of the conflict in the territories of Jammu and Kashmir since the beginning of the Commission’s investigation on 20 January 1948.

At this time, the Commission’s investigations into the involvement of Indian forces, Pakistani forces and Kashmiri tribal forces regarding violence and destruction in the region are still ongoing.

This body urges an immediate ceasefire and the deployment of humanitarian aid to civilians impacted by the conflict. We request any relevant information from persons affected by the ongoing conflict. Please contact the Commission with any information, details or potential testimony regarding the ongoing conflict.
